Victor Wilcox VIEW PROFILE

A Posting from Clark Burbidge as follows:

Hi Skyline 1973 Classmates,

I just wanted you to know that one of our best, Victor Wilcox, passed yesterday morning. He was a long time friend and member of the Skyline class of 1973. We swam together at Skyline and also at the University of Utah and maintained a friendship over the years. Vic worked in the financial industry for many years in Switzerland, retiring in his 40's as a result of the successful sale of his company and settling in Austin, Texas. He was an active and dedicated outdoorsman and enjoyed travelling, hiking and biking and almost anything that got him out in the wilds and at high altitude. He continued to compete in masters swimming championships well into his 50's and worked out in the pool up until his diagnosis last year. Vic succumbed to brain cancer and passed on September 6, 2016. He is survived by his wife Hope and his brother Chris Wilcox, also a Skyline grad. His quick wit and friendship will be greatly missed.

It is with a sad heart that we say good bye to Victor Wilcox after he fought a courageous battle with brain cancer. He passed away at home with his wife by his side on September 6, 2016 at 61 years old in Austin, TX.

Victor had a wonderful life. He lived in numerous states during his youth due to his father being a college math professor. He got his Masters in Accounting from the University of Utah. He lived in Geneva, Switzerland with his first wife, Muriel Wilcox, for 20 years where he had exciting experiences and travels and made life time friends. He spoke often of living in Indonesia for 2 years as well as taking a Freighter Ship across the Atlantic. Vic's last job was with Tivoli in Geneva and then transferred to Austin, TX in 1997. He retired at the age of 45 and enjoyed even more traveling, hiking, river running (Grand Canyon twice), sea kayaking and much more. He met his current wife, Hope Wilson, in 2008 and a wonderful love story began. They continued to explore the world together from Alaska, to Belize, British Virgin Islands, Europe, Croatia, US and always back home to Switzerland to see friends and hike the Alps.

Vic was fluent in French, although they say he rolled his "Rs" or something, swam on a master swim team with T3 four days a week, volunteered at Reading Ally two days a week for 15 years, loved to play poker every week with his friends, and had a crazy love for cheese. Vic had a great wit, sWILCOX, Victor

Vic leaves behind his wife Hope, mother Frances Wilcox of Salt Lake City, UT, brother Chris Wilcox and wife Joann of Fort Collins, CO, sister Annette Wilcox, many nieces and nephews, and step-son, Malcolm Dooley of Austin. Vic is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Wilcox.

We will miss you greatly and feel blessed to have had you in our lives.
