JAY RASMUSSEN OBITUARY

Jay M. Rasmussen "Coach" 1940 ~ 2010 Jay M. Rasmussen died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Jun 14, 2010.He was born April 22, 1940 to Milo E. and Vonda S. Rasmussen. An accomplished sportsman in football and basketball, Jay received scholarship to the University of Utah, graduated in 1962 and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He enjoyed teaching and coaching football and basketball at Skyline High School, volunteering for Read for the Blind and teaching five-year-olds how to swim. In his later life, he entered at time of spiritual deepening and discovery, finding peace and comfort in the teachings of the Church of Religious Science. He was a beloved servant to those in need and brought his humor and caring heart everywhere he went. He is survived by his daughter, Cari Lyn R. Hall and sister, Brenda R. (George) Davis, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy J. Rasmussen, his parents, and sister, Miriam R. Fox. He was a valuable asset to and loved his work as a Service Director at Memorial Mortuaries. He is missed. A celebration of his life will be held at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 So. 900 E., Murray, on Sat. July 17, 2010, at 12:00 Noon. Friends and family are invited to visit at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
