Salt Lake City, UT-Bonnie Ann Gundersen Weber, beloved mother, teacher, musician, and lifelong Holladay resident, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at the age of 83 after several years of living with Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Murray, Utah, to Orson and Effie Gundersen, Bonnie grew up on Gundersen Lane, where family, community, and faith shaped her life. She earned a bachelor's degree in vocal performance from the University of Utah and devoted her life to music, education, and service.
Bonnie conducted award-winning choirs at Skyline High School before raising three daughters. She later returned to teaching, spending many years as a history teacher before retiring from Northwest Middle School. An accomplished vocalist, choir director, private voice teacher, musical theater actor and director, and composer, she believed deeply in the power of music to inspire, connect, and bring beauty into the world.
Bonnie was known for her open heart, unwavering kindness, and genuine interest in others. She never met a stranger, valued education and civic responsibility, and served faithfully throughout her life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Above all, Bonnie cherished her family. She married David LeRoy Weber in the Salt Lake Temple on April 12, 1974, and together they built a loving home founded on faith, mutual respect, and service. She devoted her life to raising daughters Rachel (Alex) Morot, Sarah Weber, and Amber Weber.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband David; parents Orson and Effie; sisters Evelyn Confer and Judy Harris; and sister-in-law Barbara Gundersen. She is survived by her daughters; brothers Richard (Cheri), Brian, and Kirk (Kris) Gundersen; and many beloved nieces, nephews, former students, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Valley View 9th Ward meetinghouse, 1925 E. Gundersen Lane in Holladay. A viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holladay Memorial Cemetery.

So sorry to hear this news. Miss Gunderson was such an amazing teacher and choral director who gave so many students a lifelong love of music and singing.

Bonnie Gunderson was the best school teacher I've ever had in my life of schooling, from kindergarten through the University of Utah. Bar none. She wasn't easy with compliments. She exhorted us to be our very best. She emphasized the importance to sing as a team in concert. When we were learning, Handel's, "Hallelujah Chorus," from his masterpiece, "The Messiah," not only did she push us to the limit because of the complexity of that classical composition but she prodded and guided us to excel in focus and voice. We would perform that song at many traveling Christmas concerts our senior year. Being in Bonnie Gunderson's Concert Choir was one of my favorite memories of being a student at Skyline High school and a highlight of my life. Thank you Bonnie.
